Warm, Blessed and Fuzzy

Got the really blissful feeling even sitting on the steps, watching the snow-foam fall, sipping my earl grey tea, squeezing into the car just to get down Mount Faber, hailing the cab that God so wonderfully provided, and the nice, comfortable ride home, with the tzxi driver wishing me good night and to take care.

I'm just glad I didn't park myself at the library to study tonight, but decided to go out for a breather. With my geeky glasses, big baggy t-shirt and baggy jeans, I was in the most unglamorous state today, and it almost detered me from joining all you guys for dinner. Only read the sms when I left home in the morning for school to study. I was thinking, weee!, I've got real comfy clothes on to bunk in the library to study the whole day. Never did I expect the sms from Paul to meet for dinner. And was telling him, how I'm just not dressed to go out, not even to step out of school today. hehe. But somehow, looking geeky didn't stop me from meeting this bunch of friends. =)

How the boys have finally grown up, I told Min. Each time I go out with them, they'll make me feel like it's time to grow up. Think maybe God's trying to tell me something, to start planning ahead now. Maybe?

I like it how every time I go out with them, it's always comfortable, and always open. I like it how we can talk about anything under the stars, and I like it how we even playfully make fun of one another. I like it when friends are actually friends. I like it when friends genuinely care about one another, share each other's tears and joy. It made me feel like I will definitely have friends that will stay by my side no matter how far away each of us go to. Be it Australia, or even as close as Haig Road. Well, I don't really know how to describe it, but thank you guys (and ladies included of course!), for making me realize that WE have truly grown up.

Happy 21st Birthday Paul! 5 years! If you hadn't said during dinner, I wouldn't have really counted. hehe. Well, but it's been truly God's gift to have you as a friend, from the ACJC days, to the MRC days, to Krabi, to dinners with groups of friends and also Dan. Wow, going away for 6 years is going to be long. Feeling a little sad to see a friend go so far for so long, but I'm sure you'll be back for breaks and stuff ya? Don't go skiing too much k!

Don't know what's making me feel really nostalgic tonight. Oh, amidst all the singles I was with tonight, they made me feel how blessed I am to have found Jon. Even though Roger was going on and on and on and on about where to go for dates, what to do for dates, and even though Jon's not the kind who will plan something as meticulously as someone like Roger will, nevertheless, I still feel extremely blessed that I've found Jon. And very thankful.

Feeling very loved today. Even though nothing really special happened today, somehow spending time with you guys at dinner and even at Mount Faber makes me feel like I have friends to count on, and also a special guy (even though he wasn't with us) to walk through everything with me.

Thank God for friends, and the special one. =)

Happy Feet

Watched Happy Feet yesterday evening and instantly became happier! =) What wonderful voices the penguins had, though yes I know, they're all animation. I want to go see the penguins! But Jon said they're just noisy and smelly in reality.

'coped' this from xuan. Think it's really sweeeet! Everyone say, "awwwwww...".

Oh, and Happy Birthday Paul! You're 21!

Till the end of exams!

EXAMS

Can't wait for next week to be over! Seriously sick and tired of studying for exams. Can't wait for next week to be over because I have 4 papers, and one on a saturday. So I am really looking forward to a wedding on Sunday! Next week, please come quickly and go quickly, then I can study for my film module. And that will be it for the semester on 7th! Ok, actually, I can't wait for 7th dec to be over. But, one thing at a time.

Ok, not very coherent but that's the outcome of doing nothing but studying! Really, I really need God to tide me through all this! I don't want to be in control of anything anymore. God, be in the centre of my exams!

This sem seems incredibly more difficult to get through all my readings. Makes me wonder if I really should put myself into more pain of exams by doing Honours. How? Honours of no Honours?

Back to my heap of readings. This dancing banana is cute! Incoherence thanks to exams.

-Dancing banana removed, to be fixed by holy potato later. =)-

Bush in NUS

"Why didn't I get an invitation to George Bush?"

This has been the recent hype in NUS admist the closure of the arts canteen and the looming exams. Well, not just one, but quite a few have asked me that question. Seems like tons of people want to meet this President of America. Then I was just wondering, he's just another man! Why does everyone want to meet a mere man, and scramble for invites to this event of which security is so tight you probably have to surrender your I/C to see a doll-sized Bush on stage. Tight security, there's probably a dress code like coat and tie, gazillion vehicle checks, bag checks, road closures before you can actually meet this mere man. Ok, so he's the President of America.

But why do so few people want to meet Jesus? He is available anytime, anywhere. Just come as you are, and Jesus would be more than happy to recieve you. Don't need to deliberately dress up, don't need for any bag checks, or body searches. The fact is Jesus has already sent the invitation, no need to scramble for one. But why the lack in response? God has always been waiting for people to respond, to respond to the invites He has already sent out, when He died on the Cross and rose again.

Through the week...

I had an essay done.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
In the library from 8am-5pm, editing my essay.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Messy messy messy! That's the reason why I need a big space when I work intensively.

On the same Friday, I had coaching with my quartet, with Leslie and flew to catch Shaowen in concert.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Well done! Really enjoyed it. I thought Shaowen was really comfortable on stage. And I must say Lim Yan is a really sensitive pianist!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Went to catch the German film fest with these lovely ladies! Requiem was the show. It kinda freaked us all up. But I'm thankful that Christ is always victorious! (Well, watch the show, and you'll get what I mean)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Then we came across some interesting, but apt posterse at cathay. :)
This one said: " So many shoes, so little lunch time."

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
"I can never tell... Is one hole for salt or for people who want less salt?"

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Backup singers! Jill, me, Vanessa. Church on Sunday when we sang for worship. It was Vanessa's last time with us - she's gonna get married! =)

Monday, the one that just passed, finally found time to cut my hair! And went to Chocsz with Jon.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The tiny chocolate drinks that cost $5. But wow, they were really good!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
There's the tiny cup of bittersweet dark chocolate drink I got. Looove dark chocolate!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I find the redness in my new hair really obvious here.

Thank God for good company, great friends and good chocolate! =)

Do you drive the car or do you let the car drive you?

Something I read from "Making Jesus Lord" by Loren Cunningham. It seems that us, Christians already have the call, but sometimes we don't seem to respond to it, and always claim that God hasn't called us. But the fact IS, that we're called. Called to His purpose, to expand the kingdom of God.

"Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." - Mark 16:15

"I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit." - John 15:16

We are either a missionary or a mission field. The word missionary means "one who is sent". In John 20:21, "As the Father has sent me, even so I send you". So, we've already been sent!

Time to surrender my rights, and walk in a kind of liberty of surrenderedness.

HAIRCUT!!!

Yeep, had my haircut, finally! Strangely it makes my hair looks longer than before. I didn't know my hair was sooo long! Well, he made my hair much much thinner which I think is perfect for Singapore weather! Then I don't have to tie up my hair everytime I'm out of the house. And it does look much nicer, and not so thick. Oh, and I realised that I do have a lot of hair, like the entire floor was filled with my hair after he cut it. And my hair was still long!

Can I say that I'm impressed at how meticulous my hair stylist was? He just kept "perfecting" my hair, making sure it was symmetrical, right length, parting, everything! And my hair feels really light now. Though Ditong says my hair is really red. hehe. But I like the new colour! Well, I haven't coloured my hair for like almost 2 years. So it's a refreshing change. I'm glad Em introduced me to him. He's really nice, considerate and professional. Like he highlighted my hair, washed it, shampooed it, personally! Usually stylists will let the rookies do this kinda stuff. So I was quite impressed. =) And plus he made me feel really comfortable, which is a plus plus point!

Yep, so it felt like money well spent! Thank God! =)

The bunch of us, who finally turned up! Sorry matt and rey for waiting! =)

Cheers to more dinners/outings with cell!

Oh, and I think God's teaching me to really put my trust in Him. Today I had a tutorial clash, cos the make-up tutorial clashed with another soci tutorial. So I thought the tutor would be nice (cos she's really nice!) and would allow me to present just individually to her, and not in front of the class. BUT, she said if I just presented to her, marks will be deducted. Well, there was nothing I can do, so I just said ok. When I went to look for her at 2pm, to do my individual presentation just with her, she said, "Sorry for frightening you, I'm not gonna take away any marks." Inside, I was rejoicing! And heaved a sigh of relief, cos I thought I must do really well for my presentation so that she can afford to take away some marks. After my presentation, she said, "Well done. And thank you for your hard work." Wow. That sure was affirming! WOohoo.. One individual presentation cleared - just need to write the essay due on Friday. It's truly God's grace I tell you, God's grace! Something I don't think I deserve!... =)

November 7, 2006 from My Utmost for His Highest (http://www.rbc.org/utmost/index.php)

The Undetected Sacredness of Circumstances

We know that all things work together for good to those who love God . . . —Romans 8:28

The circumstances of a saint’s life are ordained of God. In the life of a saint there is no such thing as chance. God by His providence brings you into circumstances that you can’t understand at all, but the Spirit of God understands. God brings you to places, among people, and into certain conditions to accomplish a definite purpose through the intercession of the Spirit in you. Never put yourself in front of your circumstances and say, "I’m going to be my own providence here; I will watch this closely, or protect myself from that." All your circumstances are in the hand of God, and therefore you don’t ever have to think they are unnatural or unique. Your part in intercessory prayer is not to agonize over how to intercede, but to use the everyday circumstances and people God puts around you by His providence to bring them before His throne, and to allow the Spirit in you the opportunity to intercede for them. In this way God is going to touch the whole world with His saints.

Am I making the Holy Spirit’s work difficult by being vague and unsure, or by trying to do His work for Him? I must do the human side of intercession— utilizing the circumstances in which I find myself and the people who surround me. I must keep my conscious life as a sacred place for the Holy Spirit. Then as I lift different ones to God through prayer, the Holy Spirit intercedes for them.

Your intercessions can never be mine, and my intercessions can never be yours, ". . . but the Spirit Himself makes intercession" in each of our lives ( Romans 8:26 ). And without that intercession, the lives of others would be left in poverty and in ruin.

Way Overdue!!!

Pics from Sarah's homecoming! I know it's super outdated, but nevertheless, still remembered that we had a great time, even going for ice cream aft our yummy dinner at New York New York. Ok, it wasn't ice cream, it was gelato, which is supposed to be healthier, but yummier than ice cream! hee.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The 4 of us, early birds were trying to take photos of ourselves, keeping ourselves entertained while waiting for the rest to arrive. :)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Still like the above pic, it's warmer! And Jon looks really round in this pic. So we decided to do justice to him and took another pic! haha

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
And there, not a self taken pic, finally. The 4 early birds!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The food of the 4 early birds cos we ordered first... =)Yummilicious! Sarah couldn't finish her gigantic meatballs!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
There's the group of us who were at dinner. After a satisfied meal, before gelato! =)

Sarah, come back soon!

@12:33 AM

*refreshed*

Thank you brother for aligning my priorities right again, and to make sure that when I look back, I will be assured that I will not regret. Still awed by God's timely counselling and encouragement. Thank you for even understanding how I'm feeling and allowing me to just be vulnerable in front of you, though it was just a short one and a half hours. Truly thank God for you, brother! Didn't expect a casual catching up would end up with you blessing me sooo much, to an extent whereby I can't contain it. Thank you for even being sensitive, and realizing that I needed a change in perspective, and even taking the initiative to catch up with me.

Anyway, just thank God for providing me with you and your wife, to walk through with me, when I need it most. I've got a REAL mentor now! Woohoo! :)

starting my engine again

For this blog, and also the never ending essays. I've cleared 2 papers, 1 more to go, but the inertia to start this last paper is so great! There's just so much to read, I do not know where to start. So many things to write about, but I don't know how to narrow it down to a 12-pg essay. Oh boy. I've set a pre-deadline for myself this Friday to get it all done so that I can see my tutor about it.

Other than the essays, the past weeks have been really exciting. No, not the exciting essays, but meeting and catching up with people I really miss ever since school started.
