New YearIt's already the 6th day into the new year, and I'm already losing count. Too many performances, rehearsals to get the pieces in shape. Wah. And I thought I could breathe after HK. I thought wrong.
But, HK was a good break though it was short. Poor Jon fell sick over the last 2 days there, after having lunch with Pak Kei. So that was kinda like a good rest for me, after waking up at 6am for 2 consecutive days to do his bird photography.
On the Airport Express, to get to our Hotel. We had to change like 3 trains to get to Tsim Sha Tsui, with truckloads of luggage and camera equipment cos Jon's mom told him to bring one extra luggage.
Us with truckloads of luggage in the packed train. And going through those gates at the MTR stations were no joke. We literally threw our luggage over the other side then tapped the card. Was really exahusted upon reaching the hotel. Thank God Jon's mom was there. So, warning here, unless you're like backpacking or only have one piece of luggage, DO NOT take the MTR to your hotel, though it's pretty much cheaper.
HK has this strange tradition of having fireworks at 8pm, and not when the clock strikes 12. For both Christmas and New Year. So Jon and I camped at Avenue of Stars to check out the fireworks and to soak in HK countdown! =)
Jon with his favourite egg tart! They taste different, the HK and Singapore one. Of course the HK's one is more addictive!
The fireworks were preetty! But it was really cold, and the wind was chilling, so I ended up sitting on the floor amongst the crowd, but we got a really good position, like right in front of the fireworks display!
More pics, and nicer ones with the boy.
We had a countdown in the hotel since the fireworks ended pretty early. Right outside our hotel was another countdown celebration! What prestine location! So we had our countdown with our heads sticking out of the hotel window, looking down at the crowd. hehe.
Of course it's bird photography the next day at unearthly 6am. Without breakfast, we resorted to eating macs. No yum cha! :(
In the empty train to the birding location to meet Kenny - really nice guy!
And with 2 mornings and afternoons of birding, it's time for us to go shopping! =) That was before he fell sick.
In the train, all ready to go shopping at Mongkok!
The night market. Where I learnt the art of bargaining. But still not very good at it yet. Need more practice!
The crowded street at night in HK! With loads of lights, and people, and shops that open till late! =)
Lunch with PK and Lynette at this One Peking, at a Jap restaurant. It was great catching up with PK, haven't seen him for like 2 yrs I think. See the great view we had from the restaurant!
Happily satisfied! And PK was like, let's go yum cha tmr morning!!! hehe. Of course I happily agreed, but then Jon fell sick, so I can't go yum cha with him. =( So, the entire HK trip, I didn't eat dim sum at all! No yum cha! Boo! What a let down. But I'm glad Jon did get better. =)
The poor kid who's sick, in his Doraemon pyjamas cos he didn't bring enough clothes! haha. Isn't he cute? =) Oh, and with his alfafa hairdo too! Adorable! But when he was sick, he was really quite sick. So poor thing! He was like hot all over for the entire night! His mom and I took turns to look after him, changed his cold towel. Poor boy! And his diet was porridge, for 2 days. So was my diet!.. Oh well, I'm just glad he recovered the afternoon we flew back.
Back home for more rehearsals, performances, and to settle down in ministry.
Thank God for the trip. =) Was an interesting one.
